01:50 pm: Pope jokes
Now that April Fool's day is over, an explenation of my last Pope post.

When I woke Friday morning I did the same thing I usually do after I get dressed and brush my teeth: turn on public radio. I caught the tail-end of the half-hourly news where there was much talk about the Pope, his failing health the night before and reactions from significant people around the world. My first thought was, ohp, the Pope finally died. This came across as no surprise since he's been dying for as long as I've known him. The program went back to music and I went on with my day.

Later, I happened upon a news article by chance that detailed his recent heart attack and worsening condition. He was not, in fact, dead. April fool on me.

But now the old man is dead as of Saturday night due to "septic shock". Now he can finally be Saintanized and the rest of us can go on with our lives.

For a list of potential cantidates and Pope-hopefulls, aim your cursor here.

Thank you for the explanation -- see, your post came immediately after this one on my friends list (made by someone who wouldn't joke about the Pope), but CNN and Google News were both telling me he was still alive at the time. So I was trying to figure out whether your joke was that he died on April Fools Day (except he didn't), or whether you were trying to fool people into believing he was already dead.
