10:50 pm: Movie Meme
This one has been making the rounds lately & I've been having fun with my friends' chosen quotes.

1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.
5. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
6. Those who guess correctly have to do the Meme next!

Ok first, I'm doing this my way. No IMDB since that's too easy to search & I can't guarantee my favourite lines will be there anyway. Next, I'm quoting all these from memory because A) it should foil some Google searching B) my computer won't play DVDs anymore making verification much more difficult & C) I'm lazy. Anyway, here's the list. Comment away. I'm screening comments so others can't spoil your guesses. Don't be worried if you can't see after you post. I'll still be able to read them.

Also, anyone who knows the way I remember quotes will have an easier time of guessing the ones that aren't obvious.

1. It tied the whole room together. - The Big Lebowski - ribsnbacon

2. Yankee bean soup, coleslaw and tuna surprise.

3. It means 'Saint Potato'. - Captain Ron - sweetconcord

4. The floors are so clean! - Galaxy Quest - sweetconcord

5. No one gives two fucks about Bay-lah! - Ed Wood - matt_william

No, US! OUR Slaughter! One ship against the armada?!?

10. Would you stop squirming Boyd, I know I'm mispronouncing it. - Ravenous - matt_william

11. Take ONLY what you NEEED to SURVIVE! - Spaceballs tlhinganhom

12. We're leaving. All of us. - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - matt_william

13. 'Cmon you SCSI data, be in there. - TRON sacredspud

Just about everyone got Spaceballs. I didn't think that would be the easiest quote (since I didn't include the proper vocal inflection) but I should have known it would be a movie this particular group would embrace.

#5 is actually from Ed Wood, spoken by Bela Lugosi in his thick accent. Is there really a line similar to that in Good Will Hunting?

Actually I think I confuse it about a conversation in the bar scene in the movie. Ah well.

Nice work. You nailed almost half of them... Yeah, I knew #15 would be troublesome.

You get bonus points for remembering the original name of that island in Captain Ron! That really is my favourite line. Probably 'cause it's the only one I remember.

Galaxy Quest was another I wasn't sure anyone would get. Good work!

5 is Ed Wood. I know I've seen the movie with 10, but I can't pinpoint it at the moment.

Indeed it's Ed Wood, which I watched last nite just before finishing my list.

Here are the ones I know:

1. The Big Lebowski
5. Ed Wood
8. Moscow on the Hudson, Adam and Steve, or one of the Bill and Ted Movies
10. Ravenous
11. Spaceballs
13. TRON
15. Gone With the Wind

Anyway, it would be easier for me to complain about your refusal to use IMDB if you had actual errors in your list, but I don't think anybody's been cheating by searching for the quotes.

One thing, though, and I can't blame you for missing it: Your TRON quote should use the word "scuzzy" instead of SCSI. When I read it, I realized that I thought that SCSI was newer than TRON (1982), so I looked it up. As it turns out, the predecessor of SCSI was developed in 1981 and called SASI. SCSI wasn't developed until 1986 (still older than I thought), and the originally intended pronunciation was "sexy." It's a nice coincidence that SCSI, like Tron, eventually ended up being a computer term.

I tried to make the list somewhat challenging (most are only one line) but still unique (lines I particularly remember rather than the most popular.) However, I did list them all in alphabetical order by title... Whups! Except Temple of Doom.

You got them all except #8 & #15, the latter of which seems to prove more difficult than even I had at first been imagining. I figured someone would call me out on the SCSI data bit -- & I believe we talked about it once in the past -- but I couldn't resist, just because of the lightbulb that went off the first time I heard that term 10 years ago.

You should be ashamed & you should come over & see it.

I did say I tried to make it challenging & unique. Tho' I'm surprised Colin didn't identify it as he is the person who introduced me to the movie.
