Update 12:00AM
To expand on earlier in this post, I went for a bike ride this evening. I left home at about 6:20 & continued on around the lake for about a half hour until a slow-moving car flagged me down. They were a couple travelers, local to the town but not the area & they asked directions to Springers. I knew the way, but not how to direct them there as I find my way by landmarks & familiar terrain rather than street names. I still tried to help as best I could but suddenly began to feel faint. My vision started to black out around the edges & I excused myself as I sat down in the road. I drank some water & tried to let is pass but had to sit again as soon as I regained my feet. The couple graciously offered to drive me home & to my good fortune, already had a bike-rack atop their small car. Strangely, the ride back took longer than I expected.
I promised to use all my available resources to help them get where they were going & by the time we got to my place I was feeling better, stronger & eager to repay their kindness. But by the time I came back out of the house with a detailed map they said they decided to do something else. They were quiet & polite, pleasant people, but it seemed odd how quickly it appeared they wanted to leave. I may never know, but I'll always be grateful, as I shudder to imagine what may have happened had they not chanced to stop me on my journey.
