Update: 1:40 PM
I managed to get a few hours of sleep after that call but not many. Since I woke I've been trying to find the address of Sub Zero's sister company, Wolf, who coworkers informed me is actively hiring. I'd like to drop by there, look around & maybe fill out an application. I'll also be looking for the map I printed to Frito Lay since I've been interested in them since before Sanford went tits-up.
One of the most frustrating parts of that call this morning is that I don't really know why they let me go. I hadn't even finished training yet. That's hardly enough time to tell if someone will work out or not. My temp agent was rather vauge, citing something about the foreman mentioning that I didn't appear to handle the noise level very well which is baloney. The part about "not the job for me" had to have been her words as I know Marv doesn't speak that way. That's one of the downfalls of being a temp, you're disposable.
The worst part is, not only am I losing a good job with great benefits, I'm also losing all new friends I would have been working with. I was really looking forward to that.
