I've never read that book, but I know the work of the author, Rudy Rucker. He's a recently-retired mathematics professor who writes sci-fi, and I quite recommend him (or his fiction, at least).
Anyway, I've intrigued by this film now that I know about it. I can certainly understand why the title grabbed your attention, but it's probably coincidence. "Space and time" has been a common phrase since Einstein first appeared in the popular press.
To be honest, I'm more interested in the fact that Michel Gondry is directing the film. You may remember him from "Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" & those music videos I forced upon you. I'll keep the book in mind on your recommendation, tho'.
