05:17 am: Silent Movie Marathon??
If you respond to no other polls today please answer this one.

I have recently added some silent films to my ever-growing movie collection. Enough so that I would like to host a silent movie marathon sometime in the near future, say, a Saturday afternoon & evening (& possibly late-night) in May. I have four films already in mind with lots of shorts interspersed throughout. Excited? No? Vote below & leave comments to discuss dates.

Well...besides "Call of Cthulu" and "Silent Movie," what else did you have in mind? You didn't happen to pick up one of the Chaplin or Harold Lloyd sets did you?

Well there are those two & yes, I did acquire a box set so there is certainly enough for an all-day & all-night thing, but I have a specific few I want to feature for variety.

My answer is yes either way, but what kind of stuff are we talking here? It didn't even occur to me until I read Matt's comment that you might be exhibiting Mel Brooks' Silent Movie. Are we looking at strictly vintage stuff (and possibly The Call of Cthulhu, since it feels vintage)? Or would we be talking about Silent Movie as well?

Oh, FYI, I have a few silent horror classics myself, in case you're interested.

I'm planning both new & old silent movies, including the two Matt mentioned. I'm currently trying to get my hands on my own copy of Metropolis but I do have plenty of other vintage stuff now, including (dramatic pause) Safety Last!

Excellent! I don't have any idea what Safety Last! is!

But anyway, I have a no-frills copy of Metropolis, if you're interested. Also, The Golem, Nosferatu, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, The Phantom of the Opera, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, in case those interest you and you haven't already decided on what to exhibit.

I've pretty much decided what to exhibit already but that doesn't mean there won't be time for more.

As to Safety Last, if you don't recognize this memorable scene then you obviously haven't been aware of motion pictures long enough.

Maybe.

You need a "maybe" category. Boo for no maybe.

My answer is Maybe.

Not that you couldn't tell.

That's what this is all about. If there is enough interest then maybe I'll host a marathon. Check the other comments for more info. I have some very fun movies.
