Thanks for posting this! The next step is to reverse it and burn them both to a DVD so I can hold my own miniature B-Fest. Also so that I can self-medicate in the event of accidentally watching a Baby Geniuses movie.

I'd love to have both of these on one easy-to-burn DVD but have no idea where to start. matt_william has had some success with the REdeath parody, I can ask him.

Did you get the email I sent you Saturday night regarding this?

...both of what, the Baby Geniuses movies?

Kidding. I'm assuming that you're talking about the You Send It e-mail which yes, I did receive. If there was a personal e-mail you sent I didn't get it, which means it got caught in my spam filter. If that's the case, please resend it and comment here so that I'm looking out for it.

I suspect the size is due to the encoder trying for the best quality possible. After all, it's a very rare & valuable artifact.

Okay.

So did they just use cuts of this for the feature-length movie? Some of those shots looked familiar, but am I crazy in thinking they might have re-filmed sequences to match the actors they actually got for the movie?

(don't hurt me; I've only seen the movie all the way through once)

He re-filmed it for the movie. Otherwise you're talking the difference of 16mm & 35mm. Watch the movie again (what's keeping you??) & you'll note how much longer that sequence is, as well as different lyrics in the camera wizard sequence. You may also note that a few of the actors are the same, namely Steve & Brian as cameramen when the hitchhiker is dropped off in Hollywood.

Yeah, I've seen it quite a few times.

Anyone put this up on peer-to-peer for folks who weren't fortunate enough to get that link in time?

Hi. How did you find my journal? I don't link to it from the Mike-Jittlov newsgroup.

I'm planning to host the file again soon but since the file is so big I haven't decided on how to compress it. It's 651MB as it is. Windows' zip file tool makes it 571MB but with WinRar it becomes 558MB. I'm tempted to use WinRar (especially since the file takes four hours to upload) but I have a feeling more people just use zip files. What would you suggest?

Whatever makes it smallest and easiest to handle for you. (Would you consider making and seeding a torrent?)

Found you via a Technorati search on "Wizard of Speed and Time". Oddly enough, the next entry after yours was someone who's hosting it himself, so I snagged a copy.

As for hosting it again, I would personally suggest BitTorrent. That will let people who already have the file—such as myself—"help out." Somewhere like the Pirate Bay might be a good shot, you just have to find out how to submit a torrent there.

Yes, please

Could someone please torrent this, and/or put it on a download service that would survive a little longer?
